Valkyria chronicles 3 english patch3/1/2023 ![]() What I mean by that is they tried to make a "AAA" game on an "AA" budget. Soul Hackers 2 had both too high and too little of a budget at the same time it felt like. I think the game as good, but there's a few things holding it back from being great and that's where it struggles. It's marketing, issues with the game itself such as bland dungeons and other annoyances that are going to get fixed in the November patch. I liked the game but it had a lot working against it. (also the DLC is 100% optional, the extra story isn't really fully connected to the main story, and it gives you super hard bosses, but that's it). Most likely they could have sold it at a cheaper price point to entice ppl more, but at the end of the day Atlus knows their fanbase buys all their titles, so they don't care. Do they do amazing things with their limited budget? Absolutely.Ītlus is Atlus, and yeah I get ppl are mad at the DLC, but at some point I'd figure get a grip. Even the Soul Matrix has really unique boss fights that force you to fully understand the combat system and how to push it to its limits, but ppl go "brr ugly dungeons" and call it crap.ĭoes it have the biggest budget? Nope. The only real problems are the bland visuals in dungeons, but the rest is AMAZING. Wtf were people expecting? All the spin-offs are different, and SH2 is just as different as others. ![]() Ppl are mad it isn't like SMT5 enough, but then you look at the other spin-offs - DDS doesn't have demon summons, Devil Summoner on PS2 have action based combat, Devil Survivor is a SRPG, Persona is two different types, pre-3 recruitment works with tarot cards, 3 and later are more classic in mechanics but have the calendar system, etc. There's lots to enjoy - even if you don't like the character design, they have very fleshed out stories with such great characterization and actual good dialogue. ![]() ![]() The actual gameplay is amazing, the Sabbath system is very unique and interesting, and they did what they typically do - SMT spin-offs always have wildly different ways to recruit and fuse demons, there's different things you can do, the game isn't as easy as Smt5, etc. The Soul Matrix floors are reminiscent of the best SMT dungeons (huge mazes, teleporters, etc), they were just visually bland. ![]()
